In many ways, we have begun the homeward leg of our journey. Today, under brilliant blue skies, we left Shigatse by bus. Our route today followed the Bramahputra River as it cut its way over flat wide lands and dramatic canyons. The brown towering hills and mountains, as usual, looked down on our eight hour passage. Not much else to report. The travelers all took the long trip in stride and there was much silence: perhaps we have begun to sort out all the memories and experiences we have compiled over the last few weeks. We arrived in Lhasa just in time for the afternoon rush hour and slowed to a crawl to our strange and familiar hotel. Another cold night of indoor camping followed a convivial "farewell to Tibet" meal. Despite the cold conditions, and weak water pressure in our bathroom, the hotel serves up some really good food: the highlight was the yak, nicely done in a spicy sauce. Tomorrow, back to Nepal for a final couple of days, then the long journey back .... literally. More tomorrow.
